Once upon a time...

Image
We have been very busy this week in Early Years. Together we have had so much fun learning our class story, using our story actions. We also made our own stage in the classroom for the children perform the story. Children, please re-tell your grown ups the story of the little boy who wanted a friend. This week the children have loved playing in the library, using the story shelves to act out their own versions of a story.  In Maths we have been learning about 2D shapes. We created our own shape 'Borris' robots, sorted shapes into groups and went outside to mark-make our own shapes on the playground. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be talking and learning about Autumn in Early Years. We would appreciate if parents could donate a pumpkin to us, this will be used for our outside messy play and sensory topic table.   Have a lovely weekend!

Bedmond Week

Image
Last week we loved being part of Bedmond week and celebrating our local village. We explored what places we recognised around the village; tin church, park, shops and village hall. We then created our own maps using different coloured shapes to represent different things. We then welcomed Year 5/6 pupils to come and teach us about what they learnt when visiting the famous church. We then went on to create our own art work on the church, using our own cutting and sticking skills.  Phonic sounds this week, i n m and d.

Feeling Magnificent

Image
In Early Years we have been talking about what makes us feel good on the inside. We created our own recipe for feeling magnificent. Here are some of the children’s ideas: Caring Kindness Hopes Love Sharing Dream Big Respect We set up a potion station outside in the sunshine. We stirred, mixed and used pipettes to transfer the liquid into potion bottles. We created a display in the dining hall, sharing our learning with the school. Last week we learnt phonic sounds; s a t p I wonder if the children could spot items around the house starting with these letters?

First Week in Early Years

WOW Early Years! We all can't believe how quickly the children in Early Years have settled into their new environment and school routines. We have been very busy learning the new areas of our classroom and getting to know each other. During circle time we shared with each other all about our families and our interests are. Our class puppet 'Poppy the Bunny' has been teaching us how to tidy our resources away during tidy up time. We all went on a class walk around the school, look at how great we are at lining up! We cant stop singing our new class song 'Herman the Worm'.
